Kenya pastoralist journalist network with financial assistance from World Association of christian communication and its partner African women features services held a one week peace building and reconcilation workshops in Nomadic Healthcare hall, WAJIR DISTRICT on 13 -14 december and the main workshop was held on 16-17 at HIDDIG Hotel GARISSA DISTRICT.
The workshop brought together peace builders , pastoralist herders, women groups, youth groups, journalists and ex-combatants.The workshop explored the problem of interclan clashes, resource conflicts, cross borders raids and spillovers with view of intiating reconcilation , harmony, co-existence and open the volatile province to the rest of the world.The workshop which was of its kind produced a joint working plan between the stakeholders and the government officials in bringing peace.
It was the first workshop that brought government officials, ex-combatants and women peacebuilders together. Every side gave its views, suggestions, way forwards and plan of joint action so that peace can be achieved by all stakeholders in the volatile province.
All the stakeholders were happy and they have conveyed their gratitude and many thanks to the peace program funder WORLD ASSOCIATION OF CHRISTIAN COMMUNICATION and program partners AWCFS and Pajan KENYA

THE PROJECT WILL ASSIST JOURNALISTS WHO WERE CHOPPED FROM NATION NEWSPAPER FOLLOWING MASSIVE LAY-OFF AND MANY HUMAN INTEREST STORIES AND SECURITY AND DEVELOPMENT STORIES WILL BE PREPARED BY JOURNALISTS FRO PUBLISHING.

THE TRAINING WILL BRING 200 PARTICIPANTS FROM VARIOUS STAKEHOLDERS IN THE VOLATILE DISTRICT. IT WILL EMPOWER THE COMMUNITY, BUILD THEIR CAPACITY OF USING NON-VIOLENCE MEANS IN BULDING PEACE, RECONCILATION , SOCIAL COHESION AND BONDING.

WORLD TB DAY
WORLD TB DAY was marked with pomp and colour in Wajir, Garissa and Mandera districts in northern kenya. The World TB day activities this year brought various stakeholders like women groups, youth group,PLWHA, TB patients, Government officials ,medics and pastoralist herders.
They received education on treatment, transmission and prevention of TB and importance of going for testing, taking drugs accordingly and without fail. They were educated on danger of stigma toward the TB patients and residents of Mandera were taught on how TB education and campaigns has changed the attitude of communities in Wajir and Garissa on TB patients.
They also received education on increased cases of MDR TB in the region and they were educated on how to seek treatment at hospital and signs of MDR TB.
